How is Zeeo zero interest and Riba-free?

Zeeo never holds your money, so it can never lend it out. Only you can authorize payments from your balance. It is not deposited with us, not pooled with other users' funds, and not used to fund loans, investments, or debt. You earn no interest and you are charged none.

Is Zeeo a bank?

No. Zeeo is a financial technology company that builds the app you use. We are not a bank, and your balance is not a bank deposit — it is not insured by the FDIC and is not covered by any deposit guarantee scheme. Funding your account, converting between currencies, and sending money to bank accounts are carried out by licensed financial institutions we work with.

What exactly am I holding when I have a balance in Zeeo?

Digital dollars and digital euros. Each one is issued by a regulated financial company that holds reserves designed to keep it worth exactly one dollar or one euro, and only you can access it. You never have to think about how this works to use Zeeo. But you should know two things: your balance is not a bank deposit and is not government-insured, and while it is built to stay at one-to-one, that value is not guaranteed.

Who actually holds my money?

You do. The keys protecting your money are split across separate systems, so no single party — including Zeeo — can move your money on its own. We cannot lend your balance, invest it, or transfer it without you. When you fund your account or send money to a bank, your funds pass briefly through licensed payment partners who carry out the transfer. Between those moments, your balance is yours alone.

Can I have both dollars and euros?

Yes. You can hold and manage dollars and euros side by side in one app, and switch between them whenever you choose. The rate and any fee are shown to you in full before you confirm.

How do I get money in and out?

Accepted Answer

You get your own US account and routing number and a personal EUR IBAN, for supported business, payroll and own-account transfers. Personal EUR payments from friends and family are currently not supported. You can send to supported bank accounts over ACH or wire in the US and SEPA in Europe, including accounts you hold elsewhere. SEPA Instant transfers arrive in about five minutes, any time of day. Wires usually land within two hours on business days, and ACH typically takes one to two banking days. Standard SEPA takes one to three business days. Timing depends on the banking networks and cutoff times, and is not guaranteed. See our pricing page for full details.

What fees do you charge?

No monthly account fees, no maintenance fees, no subscriptions. You only pay when money leaves Zeeo to a bank account: 1% of the amount plus $2 for a US account (ACH) or €2 for a European account (SEPA), added on top so your recipient gets the full amount, with a minimum of $5 or €5. Receiving money, sending to another Zeeo user and converting between dollars and euros carry no Zeeo fee; our payment partners apply an exchange rate spread when converting. Every fee and the exact rate are shown to you before you confirm. Your own bank may apply separate charges.

Is my money safe?

Your account is protected by biometric login and device-level security, and the keys protecting your money are split across separate systems so no single party can move your funds. That protection comes with responsibility. Because we cannot access your balance, we also cannot recover it, reverse a transfer, or restore access if you lose your login credentials. Transfers are final once sent, so always check the details before you confirm. And your balance can carry risk, including the risk of losing value.

Can I get my money out whenever I want?

Yes. You can withdraw to your own bank account at any time, subject to standard verification checks and banking network hours. Nothing locks up your balance, and there is no notice period.

Who can open a Zeeo account?

Accepted Answer

You need to be 18 or older, live in one of our supported countries (currently the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, France and Austria), and complete identity verification with our licensed partner. Download Zeeo from the App Store or Google Play to get started. The Zeeo card is coming soon, and you can join the waitlist in the app.

Is Zeeo Shariah-compliant?

Zeeo is built from the ground up so that your money is never lent, never invested, and never used to generate interest — the structure that makes conventional banking problematic under Islamic finance principles. We would rather be precise than promotional about this. Zeeo itself pays and charges no interest. Your digital dollars and euros are issued by third parties who hold their own reserves, and scholarly opinion on how those reserves are managed is not unanimous. We encourage you to review our approach and consult a scholar you trust.

EUR details accept business and payroll payments, plus transfers from your own bank account with a matching name. Personal EUR payments from friends or family are currently not supported.
